Father's Day

Our Father's Day weekend was packed!  We had a great time celebrating our daddy.  Here is a recap.

We bought a cow with some others.  This is 1/8 of it.  There was a lot of ground beef, some flank steaks, chuck roasts, and a lot of other cuts we didn't recognize.  We looked up a beef cut guide to help us decide what to do with what.  I try not to be too granola, but I am very conscious about what our family eats and am much more comfortable feeding our family this local (Whidbey Island), grass-fed beef.

Since we don't have a deep freezer, we drove most of the beef down to Mike's parents and stored it in their freezer.  The kids played and we stayed for dinner.

We also had some ice cream for dessert!

On Saturday, we went to Crossfit and then we went to the Washington Brewer's Festival with some friends.  Hannah and Calvin were at a birthday party so Joel was the star of the show.  I left early for the kids' naps and Mike stayed to do more tasting.

When Mike came home from the festival, the kids were up, the food was made and we packed up and drove to Seward Park for a picnic dinner with Auntie and Uncle Randy.

There was a lot of rock throwing.  Thankfully only one casualty.

When we got home from the beach, I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast on sunday.  We go rather extravagant for breakfast on holidays.  I get crepes with Mike's homemade ricotta and berries for Mother's Day.  Just thinking about it makes me drool.  I assumed Mike would request cinnamon rolls and he did.  I make them, but don't bake them until sunday morning.

Sunday morning I woke up, popped these babies in the oven, flipped them out of the pan and voila, here they are!  They are cinnamon rolls, but instead of a glaze we do the caramel pecan roll thing on top, but I'm the only one that likes pecans.  They were amazing.  After breakfast we went to church, took naps, and then went to my Dad's for dinner with my family and Mike's parents.  By then, I was so tired and didn't get any pics, but we had a major feast and a great time.  We even grilled some steaks from that beef we got and it was tasty!  Best of all, Mike had a great weekend!
