Our old house
| Our first home. Spring 2012 |
We moved from our neighborhood where we both grew up in Seattle to Bellevue about a year ago. It is 14 miles away from our old home so it isn't super far, but enough to change our daily lives. There were a number of reasons for moving to this place, but the biggest reason was so that Mike can have a short drive to work (can't even really call it a commute). While that has improved our quality of life a ton, we miss our old house dearly.

| The kids enjoying outside! 2012 |
The short of it is that we miss our yard and garden. We would often be found mowing the lawn (Mike loved doing this!), playing in the grass, growing our flowers, and harvesting fruit and veggies. We now have a broken lawn mower for the little grass that does grow, no vegetable garden (too much shade cover from trees), and no lush lawn for playing (lots of needles from the trees). On warm and sunny days we miss it all the most.
The whole reason I bring this up is because it's starting to get warm and at this time of the year the flowers would be blooming and I would be taking lots of pictures of them, especially my peonies. Peonies are my favorite flower and they are only around for a very short window during the spring. When I re-marry Mike, it will be in June so that I can have lots of peonies! You think I am kidding, I am not! :) We had lots of peonies, some of them we babied for three years before they started producing blooms. Some of the bushes had 50+ blooms on them last year and I'm sure even more this year. Fortunately, I still get to enjoy some of them!!!! Pretty much the only deal we made with our renters besides them paying rent and utilities, was that come peony time, we were going to come and cut a bunch of stems to enjoy. Well, it's peony time and we cut them earlier than we should have, but they are finally blooming and I got pictures! Enjoy!
