Role playing

There's a lot of role playing and imaginative play that goes on at our house.  Today, we played doctor.  I was the doctor and did some serious bandaging.  Calvin told me he hurt his head all the way down to his leg.  You should have seen the bandage work for that injury.  He wasn't as amused as I.

Calvin and Hannah like to play another thing that is kind of like playing house where they use different bedrooms as locations or destinations.  They don't always role play as a typical family with a Mama (Hannah), Daddy (Calvin), and baby (Joel).  A lot of times they use made up name combos of friends they have.  Usually it starts with Calvin asking Hannah, "You want to play 'Me go to work and Joel go to Sarah's'?"  Then what happens is Calvin goes to work with all of his bags (or Hawaii sometimes), Joel goes to "Sarah's" (which is their name for the childcare place at the local pool), and Hannah goes somewhere to take care of her baby doll.  Part of the reason they like it so much is that they pack up a bunch of clothes, toys, and furniture and bring it all into Joel's room and set it all up and then they make a fort with Joel's curtains.  They play this at least 3 times per week and will do this for a long time.  Every now and then you'll hear Joel calling me over and over at which point I realize they've dropped him off at Sarah's which is in a different room with the door closed all by himself.  Poor little guy doesn't want to be left alone and he can't get out on his own!  This all just cracks me up, but they love it so I don't bother them!

His undies neatly folded behind the door.  He also has a pile of folded shirts nearby.
Calvin's shoes all lined up along Joel's closet.
